Here’s the pasta sauce I usually make with a secret ingredient – Walter Craft Caesar Mix. I bought a bottle of the mild spice mix a few weeks back and thought it would be a good additional to the sauce. And I think it’s all about the clam juice. Yes, I know it sounds weird, but it provides excellent body for a pasta sauce.
1 lb fresh lean ground beef 1 medium brown onion (finely diced) 1-2 tbsp. olive oil 2 garlic cloves 450 ml Walters caesar mix 1 can whole or sliced Italian tomatoes (800ml) 10-20 olives (de-pitted) 1 tbsp. Italian herbs salt & pepper
Heat a heavy stock pot, and add the olive oil. Add the diced onion and sauce until the onion is soft, 5 min. Add the herbs, and saute for an additional 2-3 min. Add the ground beef to the onions, and brown. Add the caesar mix, the tomatoes, and pressed garlic allow to simmer for about an hour. Add the olives (torn apart), and allow to simmer for another 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
